I have 2000 FLHRCI had to change the gas tank but dont remember what position the "fuel return hose" or the "fuel supply hose" goes. Which hose connects to the fuel filter? Im baffled
on a 2000 tank, there are two fuel lines in the bottom of the tank.
There are also two cooregated fuel lines inside the tank that connect to each. One for each hole.
The shorter of the cooregated lines goes to the rear-ward hole in the tank
The longer of the cooregates line goes into the front-ward hole in the tank.
The short/rear line just sits on the middle section of the tank. There is a tab that keeps it in place
The longer/front line connects to the fuel sending unit (float/pump).
It is a bit(h to get the fule assy back into the tank. Take some blue painter tape and stick a few pieces on each side of the entry hole. THen put a couple pieces of duct tape over the blue tape. This will keep you from scratching the take while trying to position the assy to go back in. Trust me it works and the assy install is very aggrivating...but it will go..dont force it.
Also, make sure you have a new gasket and new screws to hold the assy to the tank. There are 10 screws. They have a little plastic washer made on them that expands when installed. If you attempt to re-use the gasket/screws fuel will seep out...dont ask how i know this....trust me.....i just had a tank repainted....UGGGGGGGG
