After being a "Lurker" for three years (That's right 3) I can finally post. First, a little history: I had a bike when I was in my 20's...sold it ...Three years ago I got the "Itch" and wanted a new bike. The "War dept" (Read: Wife) said no way (With the boat I refuse to ask permission so with the bike I thought it was appropriate). Anyway I visited a HD dealer with her and spend a few hours eyeing a bike I really wanted...she got bored and sat on a few with the salesman as I tried to figure out how to make this work. She finally said "Can we get out of here now"...so..we left...Without a bike....On the way home she says.." You can get a bike...But you have to get me one too".....Problem solved...But two HD's at once wasn't going to work financially at the time.....so,we took the MSF course and we got Honda's (Her a Shadow 1100...actually she started on a 750 and then went to the 1100 and me a VTX 1300.
However, we were in Vegas and rented HD's and she fell in love with the Wideglide. We did this twice and it's all she talks about.....SOOOO...Her Bday is in 10 days and I'm going to surprise her with a 2008 Wideglide....But, I've also decided that if I ride my VTX next to her Wideglide I might take a few "Comments" from strangers....And I REALLY want the Harley....Sooo....I also ordered a 2008 FLHTC w/ ABS. (Crimson Red Sunglow)...And tons of goodies!
I'll pick her Wideglide up next Friday and surprise her with it (I'm going to put it under her existing bike cover and she won't even know it's there)...My bike is going to be a few weeks but I don't really care as it isn't riding season. Anyway...just wanted to thank everyone on this board as I have religiously read this board for three years and I know I am making a much more informed decision than I would have without your expertise.....I picked a LOT of extra's for the FLHTC that I know I would have done wrong had I not been a "Lurker".....Thank you!!..I'm sure I'll have lot's more questions when the bikes arrive....
Welcome to the forum and congrats! Once you get on a HD there really is no going back, the metric bikes sometimes get the look close, but they sure don't have the "feel".
Congrats on the new scoots. I know the wife will thank you properly for it too. Have a goot time on them and be safe. Feel free to post some ride pics for those of us that can't ride without the wife on the back.
