I couldn't get the stock pipes off soon enough. It was quieter that the stock Fatboy exhaust which has also been changed. I went with the SE Pro pipes. They sound mean although I like the sound of a carb bike with pipes better than EFI.
The stock pipes are really quiet. I added the SE slipons to my SG. They are plenty loud. As a matter of fact I didn't expect them to present the sound they actually put out. One thing I will add, be prepared for more vibration in the floorboards and handlebars once the pipes are changed.
Ha Ha Ha now that is some $hit. I figured I would get some crap from the stock pipe lovers out there, but I did not think I would got this back. That's classic.

Are you sure it's not from having the HD Download?
My Road King doesn't sound all that bad with its stock pipes. SE2's were just a bit loud for my already failing hearing. Then, a miracle ocurred. I heard a set of Vance and Hines Ovals at the shop and absolutely had to have a set! They (to my ears) are the best sounding exhaust I have heard yet (after a year). Not too loud, no cracking, and a nice, deep rumble. Ordered a set yesterday. I practically gave away my SE2's. Check ebay and try to find a set of used slip-ons. In fact, there a set of Ovals for sale there right now. They were getting a bit high for used pipes or I'd have bought them.

Cheyenne, At this point I don't know what is causing the problem although I'm with you and leaning towards the download being the problem. First, I'm going to prove the motor mount one way or the other. I have located the old version mount from another dealer which I have to buy for $45. My dealer already sent my old mount back to the MOCO and they only have the new mounts in stock. If the mount proves not to be the problem, I am going to get the SERT and have the bike dyno tuned.
I love the way my dealer always says, "It's Normal!"
