Default Road Glide Handlebars!!!

What are you 2008 Rode Glide owners doing for handlebars? I have pulled mine as far back as possible and still have to reach to hold on. My driver backrest helped but I am still reaching. Has anybody changed out their bars yet? If so to what and how do you like them?

The Harley catalog they have some reduced reach bars. A buddy of mine has a set on his EGS, and he likes them. You might also check out a reduced reach seat as well.

Reduced Reach RoadKing Handlebarart #56152-04 $49.95 (probably have to change cables)
Touring Pull Back Handlebarart #55914-98 (probably have to change cables)

Later,

JB

Many of us tried Wild 1 bars mini apes, or something along those lines. Wild 1 does have correct bars for '08s.

I've used WideGlide bars on both of my RG's. No cable or wiring changes required...

many use wild 1 bars - 517 i believe is the number (the wild 1 website will specifically name them)
also some use the heritage bars and like them.
a lot of us use the stock wideglide bars that are mini-apes (i think they are around 10" rise and about 8" pullback)
i have a set of the mini-apes on mine, but with a solo corbin seat that moves me back, i am still slightly leaning away from my backrest. i am going to a set of 12 or 14" apes - not for the look, but for position of the hands, and not having to lean forward. i did not like the wild 1 bars since they are somewhat narrow and with the increased pullback, my hands were tucked in and twisted - just was not comfortable. a standard set of apes will not help as many do not have as much pullback as needed - they are simply apes with a lot of rise but not much pullback. i have had to look more specifically for a set that not only raise my hands another 2-4" but also have more pullback than standard apes do. the apes are very comfortable for me as long as my hands stay below my shoulders and as long as they don't turn the outside of my hands upward (thereby rolling the shoulder outward).

you need to sit on your bike and put your hands out where they feel comfortable and then find a set of bars that put your hands were you wanted them. sitting on other's bikes or a dealer's bikes that have different styles helps - but only if the seat position is very similar to yours.

an advantage to the wideglide and heritage bars is they are relatively inexpensive. wild 1 bars are around 175 up. if you start getting into the apes and go with anything larger in diameter, they get expensive as well.

I just recently picked up my new Road Glide and am going with Wild One RG bars. No cable changes necessary. Also make sure the bars are notched for the new electronic throttle. From what I've been told, older bars won't work.

I put 07 Softtail bars om my 06 RG. Fit perfect, no cable changes and very comfortable. Have taken several long rides with no shoulder, arm or back aches.
