Well what the hell, it's only money. I just bought a set on e-bay. This will make a total of 4 sets of speakers I own for this bike. Stock=suck, Hog Tunes=better but still not happy, bought a set of JBL's= still brand new sitting in the box and now the Infinity, gotta be better with the cross over
Regarding the crossover: The instruction set said do NOT run the speakers w/o it. However, I am not a speaker guy so I don't know. I used Velcro on the crossover and stuck it to the fairing; I then put some duct tape on it too. I would think this should work just fine.
They really sound great. I turned my stereo 3/4 all the up and they did not distort, but it got too loud so I turned it back down. Music problem solved!!!
I am not saying these are the best, but for $60 (Ebay price) I can't imagine anything better. Crutchfield wants $130 for these BTW; it also got 13 different 5 star reviews on there too. It is simply another option to look at.

What happens in the summer when it gets hot in there in the summer and that tape comes loose? you know it will. I'll use zip ties on mine but there are good places to do that inside the RG fairing, I don't know what's behind a batwing...
When I installed tweeters in my batwing I wanted the crossovers tucked in right near the top, but like you said there are no good places to zip tie around there. So I just drilled a few small holes in some of the plastic bracing on the inner fairing, and zip tied to those holes. Works like a charm.......
