Default Tires?

I have the stock Dunlap tires on my bike and they are just about ready for replacement. I've been getting almost 11K out of the rear and about 16K out of the front. But, I been hearing some good talk about the Metzler tires; does anyone use these on their bike?

Metzlers are good tires, the 880's. They are slightly softer than the Dunlops which will give you better grip, but, will not last quite as long. I just changed mine, went with the Dunlops. I got 16K on the rear and had some left on the front. I changed them both. You should get more out of your tires, be sure that you check tire pressure at least weekly.

I can't wait until my tires wear enough so I can change out to Metzlers. I have always hated Dunlops and still do.

I've always ran Metzlers on my sportbikes and loved the feel. If you are worried about getting the most miles out of a tire then skip the Metzlers.

Always used HD Dunlops. I get good service out of them and never had a problem in the rain. Softer tire, less mileage, no thanks. My .02 cents.[&:]

Softer tire a little better ride and more traction.. I'll take that over a few miles and not like your breaking the bank to buy them.

All I know about Metzler is what I have heard/ read. What is the average mileage for an RK rear? I have heard less than 10K. Is that what you would expect? I know the sport bikes like 'em.

I would say it depends on how you ride. I guess me coming from sportbikes and the fact that I almost wiped my bike 2 weeks after I got it turning in a parking lot and the front end sliding way out on me and the fact that I hate Dunlops anyways is the reasons I can't wait to get rid of these damn tires.

I love my grip and feel the trade off for miles is well worth it. Like I said they not all that expensive to replace.

Default RE: Tires?

I decided to go to a local bike shop and talked to the owner and asked him what he thinks of Metzler 880 tires because I was thinking of replacing it with those. And he said personally from his experience of changing bikes tires for a lot of years is that I should stick with Dunlops, cause they last a lot longer and in some instances he had customers with RKs and Fat Boy come back after 5-7k miles on the Metzlers to change to Dunlops because they were wearing out fast and uneven to boot. But he said people do not listen, so it is all about what you want. They are a softer tire that will stick better naturally but will wear out in half the time as the Dunlops. Also depends on your riding style and roads you take. So if you do not mind paying for tires and labor more than go for it. I changed my rear after 10.5K miles but it had about another 3k more. But I do not like to change tires, especially the rear. I still have to go to the dealer to balance the tire. I'll stick with my Dunlops which had touble free miles on them.

My 2 cents.

I guess it will be some time before I can find out how many miles ya get from a set of Metzlers, unless I decide to bite the bullet and change out my tires with only 1500 miles on them..

Hmmmmz maybe I can throw them on ebay or here seeing as alot of people like them
