How much vibration will new pipes or Slipons add to the ride.
Just had SE slipons added to my SG. Noticed a substantial difference in the ride. The only problem is I had the new Front motor mount put on at the same time. Now I don't know which change is causing the vibration and shake, especially at idle. I'm leaning towards the pipes and download being the culprit.
Looking for opinions based on experience, Thanks guys.
I put on Rinehart True Duals on my RK Classic and there was quite a bit of vibration from them.
I'm used to it now, but the first time I drove it, I was very surprized.
I recently installed the PC III USB and my bike devoloped a bad vibration between idle and 1800 RPM. Tried several downloads without success. Removed the PC III USB and vibration went away. Power Commander is sending me a new unit.
I also have installed the new motor mount on my 05 ultra and noticed the bike smoother with less motor shake at idle.
I have three sets of slip on pipes, SE2, Bubs and SE Touring and no vibration with any of the pipes.
Try a blank download and see if that stops the vibration. The blank download returns everything back to what you had before installing the PC III.
Good Luck. Power Commander was great to work with and jumps on any problems you may have.
I am running a 95 ci motor with 203 cams (soon to be 211's) and Rinehart True Duals and I don't notice any vibration at all except when I'm sitting at a stop sign. Of course I use to ride a shove bagger that had so much vibration that I had girls lined up to take a ride on it.
The PCIII and the download does not work as well on the 2006's as they did on the older bikes. The (here I go, get ready) SERT is your answer, especially if your running ture duals. There are a lot of variables here and the only way to check them all is with a computer and dyno.
Terry is right. Those pipes are flowing a lot of air and if you're creating a lean condition in the engine, the spark knock sensors may be causing the ECM to alter the timing in certain areas of the RPM range. Basically it throws the bike out of tune and that can cause a vibration like you describe. The SERT is the answer.
Ya know. I just assumed the true duals was the cause of the vibration.......but I do have a PCIII........huuumm. ....I wonder? I never thougt about the vibration coming from the PCIII. How could I tell if it's the PCIII? Could I unplug it without a re-map just to check it?
AA
Yes, but will prob run shitty so it may cause to still shake.
Why do people use generic maps instead of having their bike DYNO TUNED????? I don't understand going cheap at this point when you spent so much on the bike and mods to only have crap results because your cheap?
