As I set here at home trying to type with one eye. A word of advise. Use sun block. I had surgery yesterday on my nose to remove skin cancer. I woke up this morning with my right eye swollen shut. When we were kids, the best thing to put on in the summer was iodine and baby oil for that deep rich tan. Yea right!!!!! Now, the first thing I do in the morning after a shower is use sunblock on all the exposed areas before getting outside. I know, all the damage was done years ago, but I am not getting any younger and lets face it, a SUN BURN HURTS. That is my .02 cents and my word of advise.
Wish u a speedy recovery!! It is amazing what we learn as time goes on!! As a kid I was always in the sun without any sunblock....Now it is SBF 50 before I leave the house!!
I had to smear a cream all over my face for two weeks. The cream slowly eats the skin wherever there is cancerous tissue. It is really painfull and you have to hide for about five weeks till you heal up enough to be seen in public. You don't want to have to use this stuff.
Good advice. Best wishes for a quick recovery.
Yep, wear sunblock all the time when outdoors, and especially when riding. Don't forget the top of your ears either!
I know that plenty of chit has been talked about half gloves, but it's a must for me, as even sunblock isn't enough for me to not get sun poisoning on the backs of my hands.
Stro, thats too bad. The best to you and the mrs.
Rick, positive thoughts and vigilence. All will be good.
I spent 2 days this week at Fox Chase Cancer Center. I am a cancer survivor and got the tat to prove it.[sm=smiley20.gif] I've had major surgery for a stage III cancer, I've had growths removed but more remain and had another study today to check on lymph node lumps. I am battered, beaten, cut and chopped, I have mesh and screws holding me together but I havebeaten everything thrown my way.
Myattitude will never change.
Living life ain't easy.
ya know i'm glad you posted something like this
because i know were a motorcycle forum
but so few of us ever think of overexposure to the
sun, wind ,cold etc and the effects it has on us
good post!
I also had about 3 spots of skin cancer removed. They say it could have come from sunburn as a kid. Who didn't get sunburned as kid, outside all the time. Maybe kids playing computer games instead of being outside has a upside. Now I lather up before every ride, and so does the wife who had breast cancer! Stay lathered up and healthy, and keep riding!
