I just picked up 105th anniversary ultra classic and noticed a strange handle bar problem.
When I am going straight, the handle bar and fairing is pointing slightly to right.
Thehandle bar is pointing to right during the right curve at the freeway. (I am using counter steering method.)
However, handle bar is still pointing to right during the long curve to left. (still using counter steering method.)
So what the heck is going on with this bike? Is it due to right side not having any cables?
(Left handle bar has a stiff clutch cable running through the left side of the fairing.)
So anyone has any solution to this problem?
My handle bars on my 08 RG were turned more to the right. They had to take them off and replace the busings. Now they are straight. This may or may not be the same problem. T.
I had a 2000 dyno that had bent barrs when it was new. never realized it til I sold it and was told about it[sm=bicker.gif]ha I thought that was normal...really
Thx for replies. This is my 1st hog. I have been riding beemers and yamahas for while. Damn I am starting to regret the purchase.
The bars are mounted in rubber bushings. Take it back to the dealer and they will straghten them out for you. This is a set-up issue. It's no big deal really. You can straighten them out yourself. I did after I called the dealer about it. You can actually straighten them by putting the front tire up against something like a curb and then turn the bars hard against it. The rubber bushing allow some give.
BTW, if you're regretting your purchase over this maybe you should go back to a metric bike. Believe me, this won't be the last time you have to fix something on your bike.
Fixed the rubber bushing at the dealer already, but the handle bar is still pointing to the right while going straight. Harley is not well made as BMW or Yamaha in my opinion. This sucks.

There is a law that says you can take the bike back within 3 days of purchase and get a total refund. I suggest you do that.
If that doesn't work, I'm sure your local Yamaha dealer will take it in trade. Hell, you can probably get 2 bikes for it.
