So a group of my buddies and I are heading to The Lake of the Ozarks for a long weekend this June and I was wondering if any of y'all live in the area or have been on a trip there before. Looking for some good roads or some good day trips in the area. Thanks for any input!
Lots of good riding all around the lake. Hwy 5 Northand South is a good ride out of Camdenton, just South of the Lake. It is just fun to ride around the Lake itself, just remember that time of the year, the Lake traffic is really heavy. Thru the week probably better than the weekends.
Lots of good riding in the area. Might be a little rainy in early June. Traffic around the immediate lake area is heavy. Lots of bars but mostly for boaters along the lakeshores. Stay off the center lines on the two lane roads around here. They like to hug them or even cross over, a lot of wrecks because of it. There's a rally here in September. Nothing big but a few vendors at a couple places with the usual stuff, food, drinks, etc. Have fun.
Well Lots of Good riding. Hwy 5 as said also out of Camdenton south toward Lebadon (Dealer here) owned by the same as on the south side 0f Hwy 54 out of Osage Beach. Take hwy 42 out of Osage Beach thru/past Brumley...hwy 135 off of hwy 5 to Stover.......hwy 7 toward Climax Springs.............Be very Careful taking the Lake roads (example LK5-29 etc ) as alot of these may start a blacktop but end as Gravel in a curve down a Hill!! An as said watch for traffic and your speed LEo in the lake area support their towns on these................lots of lake side bars did I say LOTS of lake side bars!!!!!!!!

Let me know if you want any aditional info..Lots to see...Caves, Shops etc...........
I live outside of St. Louis and go to the lake and few times every year. I was there last year for the rally, and it was a great time. There are some nice roads and some great places to stay.
Everyone in this area has his or her favorite roads. Here are a few of mine:
Illnois River Road
Highway 79
Highway 19
Highway 94
Highway 42
I could name a few more too. Feel free to pull out the MO map and send me a pm, I would be glad to help. I've lived on both sides of the state and in the middle to.

A number of local riders hang out at "tirebiters" which is an off the lake bar. Mostly locals hang here.
A very good place for local information. It right on the main drag kinda behind the golden door motel
Owners name is Jim. Good guy.
Ask for a bartender name of Kristen. She is all knowing
Thanks for the info guys, always nice to have a little local knowledge before ya walk into the wrong place or take the wrong road. Also 06ultra3rdhd, there are still cars stuck on I-90 between Janesville and Madison. They sent out the National guard and guys on snowmobiles last night to try and get to some of them. I-90 through Beloit, my hometown, had about 1 inch of ice on it and when I had to walk across it to get to a trucker in the median at the rest stop area, I fell walking. Crazy to see cars flying by on something that I can't walk on at 40+mph.
