HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
What is the difference between these two mufflers? Both are non-catalyst. Both appear to be "slip-ons" with end caps. The HD Touring Mufflers (65259-00) is in the HD Catalog. The SE Pro Performance Muffler (65115-98B) is in the SE Pro Racing Parts Catalog. How would you characterize the difference in sound?
RE: HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
The SE Pro mufflers are less retrictive (not street legal) and will be considerably louder. The touring mufflers are closer to your stock mufflers. I'd go with the SE's for performance and sound.
RE: HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
Ive heard the regular ones sounded almost stock.I have the screamming eagle slip ons from the racing parts catalog. The sound is not really loud imo. They have a pretty deep sound,as long as your not getting an echo from the middle barrier it sounds pretty good.Oh yeah and on the 95 kit they call for the racing muffler.Thats the one on the dyno sheet. Now I know its not the optimum exhaust but its not to loud,I didnt want it to loud.
RE: HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
I have the SE pro mufflers on mine. There is quite a bit of difference between those and the Touring mufflers as far as sound. To me it is a waste of time buying the Touring mufflers. The SE pro mufflers sound pretty good to me, loud, but not so loud that you can't enjoy the radio going down the road.
RE: HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
Just so you know also the slipons with the changeable endcaps will sound different depending on what endcap you use. I had the 1 piece slipons and loved the sound of them. I could cruise at 80mph and still listen to my passenger/radio.
RE: HD Touring Muffler versus SE Pro Performance Muffler
Morning,
I don't know what the diff in sound is, but I have the 65115-98B SE's on an 06 Ultra and at cruizing speeds, they sound just right for me... A slight rumble, but no where near stock. I can still the radio at 55 to 65......Hope this helps.
