I've got about an 1/8" gap, it doesn't bother me as much as the annoying whistle I have after adding the ring. Hopefully my exhaust upgrade covers it up.

I've heard about it before. Is it just the visor style ring that does this?
I don't know about the visor style, but the regular trim ring from HD does the same thing.... You either have a gap at the bottom, or once you get the thing set just right, it looks like it is "crimped" at the seam. I don't get it... All the other trim rings (passing lights, turn signals front and rear) close up really nice. I've even had the dealer take it off, mess with it, and put it back on. One of those things they say "can't get it any better...."

Yeah, but I still paid full price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A while back I read the other thread with all the install problems and decided to pass. I'm still passing.

I got it and had the same problem. Take off the stock ring and get some magnetic strips with sticky backing. Place a couple of those around the headlight as spacers. It fills the gap so the new ring won't just spin around the headlight, but it's thin enough so the ring can be fully closed. Works like a charm.

I took the whole existing ringcompletely off, put it inside the visor ring, put the whole thing back on,screw in original ring first, then tighten visor ring. No gaphere. Make sure the nut is not spinning when you get down to the last few turns. If you have a small pair of plyers to hold the nut while tightening the screw, it will close the gap.
Put one on last night and this worked for me.

I have the gap and had the whistle up to 40mph. Used rubber tape insulation to fill in
the gap between the two rings. I noticed this gap on new bikes as well. I am also disappointed.
