Default Another Dissatisfied Trim Ring Owner

I wish I would have read this thread before I purchased the HD Visor style Headlight Trim Ring.
https://www.hdforums.com/m_1725166/tm.htm
Could have saved myself much frustration. If you want to change out your headlighttrim ring, go with the one from JPCycle. I also purchased the HD Visor style Passing Lamp Rings which fit great. What I ended up doing with the Headlight ring is scratching the crap out of the original ring trying to get the new one to fit properly. Because I could not get the bottom to close all the way (1/4 inch gap), I ended up using using a Dremal in an attempt to remove a small portion of the upper inside part of the ring but that didn't work as well as I wanted, so I said screw it and put chrome tape over the gap that I purchased from Checker Auto and it looks much better, but I know the gap is still there. I spoke to the sales folks at the local Stealer, they said they have never heard of this problem. I say bullsh!t......read the linked thread above and you will see many riders having the same issue.

I've heard about it before. Is it just the visor style ring that does this?

i installed the 67752-77T headlamp visor on my 08 RKC just fine. only problem was i forgot to get the 67761-96 visor mounting kit which is a $2 pair of spring clips and a rubber strip so i had to go back to the dealer. put it on in the dealer's parking lot before i left - 10 minutes max.

I have the same 1/4 gap as do most people. Rather than rig something to cover the gap I just left it there-after awhile I don't notice it as much.
You would think HD might redesign the visor so that it fits properly.
Overall I like the look of the trim ring

I had the visor trim ring installed on two different bikes and did not have any gap. The trick is, as I have stated in other threads, to have a second set of hands to squeeze it while you tighten. Mine had a gap maybe big enough to slip a piece of paper in.

Mine did the same thing, and I figured screw it and left it alone.
Then I had to remove it to replace the headlamp, and after washing out all the crap behind the headlamp trim ring as well as the crap from behind the visor ring, it all went back together with no gap at all...........Im of coarse happy with the out come now.

Well, at least now I know its not just me. I just installed that ring and its a POS. Total junk! 1/4 inch gap no matter what I tried. Still pisses me off!

I haven't heard this happening to the HD Frenched Style Rings. If you read the other thread, there are riders who say that they tighten it after a couple of hundred miles and the gap is closing. Asecond set of hands would have been nice during the installation. I have heard guys modifiing the internal framehousing to get the ring to fit. None of this crap should happen on a $50.00 part. O-well, live and learn I guess..

I have a brand new '08 RK Classic, and the dealer put on my trim rings... same sh*t 1/4 gap, and I asked them about it and they said they are all like that... Just the headlight that is... maybe with time as others have posted it will close.
