I would not buy any helmet I could not try on first.
I would prefer that too, but half helmets seem to be harder to find, at least what I am looking for. All the helmets at the Harley store were made in China. Don't want anything from china protecting my noggin.

I wear the ACC Carbon Fiber DOT approved helmet- it'll give you the look and profile you're looking for.The interior isn't exactly plush, but it's ok.I almost always wear a helmet and 80% of the time it's my ACC half helmet.
All that said if you really want to "protect your noggin" then it's probably stupid not to at least wear a 3/4 Helmet.I wish I could convince myself to wear my 3/4 most of the time.
The Series 100 is one to look at, but if your state wants one on the DOT approved list, and with a sewn in DOT certification, Vega XTS for about $55.00 is good. Slim profile...
For the money, the Daytona. DOT approved and about $40.00
My thoughts are that, if you're going to spend the $$$$, buy a real helmet - 3/4 or full. I have 2 half lids and a Fulmer Modus full face. Wear the 1/2's most of the time. Probably 2 steps up from a do-rag (which I wear underneath to keep the helmet liner from getting skanky smelling), but better than no helmet. There are no helmet laws here, but I've always worn one - my choice.
I've tried on the Bell Drifter a few time, it just wasn't comfortable and have the Scorpion EXO-100 and neither are what I would call low profile. The EXO-100 is a nice helmet, comfortable for all day and the retractable visor is a helpful feature if like me you wear glasses and get caught in a light rain shower. I your main goal is low profile I think you need to look at other 1/2 helmets.
