Long as you dont live in NC this is the best helmet in my opinion in the market place. If you live in NC they require 1 inch foam. ACC helmets have 5/8 inch foam. GREAT HELMET though I promise you. Once NC gets with the program and allows all DOT legal helmet to be used I will use my ACC helmet again.
I have been told by a reliable source....that a state law cannot supercede a Federal law.. so if a DOT helmet is acceptable by the Feds.. a state law can't say it's not.. ( brother was a State Patrol officer..) someone in NC may want to check that out...
I have a real nice Arai full face. I wear it when it is cold and that is it. I normally don't wear a helmet but have been thinking a good looking low profile is better than a snot rag on my head. Guess I am just getting old. I like the looks of the ACC helmet and will probably go with the flat black one. Thanks for all the replies.
I have the ACC non-dot half helmet and it's great........been using it for over 2 years and I really like it. Cost was around $100, and I'm sure it offers much more protection then the normal novelty helmet.
If they would make the DOT helmets in my size, I would go with one of them.
NXT from JP cycles. lightweight and don't take up much room in the tour pack.
love my nxt, but before sending your money to jp, check to make sure they have it in stock. the company has been having some problems (i think the owner killed himself, lot of people who ordered directly from them have lost their money).
i had purchased a helmet from jafrum a while ago, its not quite as small as the nxt (and i think the acc) and the chin strap was in a really weird spot. seemed to be too far back, cutting into my throat. but i used it for a few months on local rides until i got my nxt.
WWW.SUPERSEER.COM THERE IS A REASON ALMOST EVERY POLICE DEPT IN THE USA USES THEM IVE HAD A FEW FOR 20 PLUS YEARS VERY COMFORTIBLE.. AND THEY DONT LOOK LIKE UR WEARING A GIANT FOOTBALL ON UR HEAD. NOT CHEAP...$195.00 APPROX.. TO ME HELMETS ARE LIKE TIRES.. WOULD U BUY A CHEAP OFF BRAND TIRE?
This one has good padding so it does stick out a bit, but I think it looks great, it's got the HD logo, and it has a snap for the strap. Got it half price so $80 OTD. http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
