I've been trying to find a solo seat for my 08 SG. I like the look of the corbin Hollywood, but can't seem to find it online other then the MSRP corbin site. Does anyone have any good pics or advice to steer me in the right direction? I want a solo that seat you low in the bike. For some reason the mustang and the sundowner solo look to big for my taste. I found this one for $265 from C&C MC Seats. anyone tried it? I like the profile of the seat but could do without the flame stitching.
I'm a Corbin fan myself, but true they're not cheap. Watch the member classifieds on the forum here or Ebay for one and see if you can pick one up. I like the Corbin Classic Solo and plan to pick one up in the next 6 months or so. I assume you do know Corbins are VERY FIRM seats andpeople either love them or hate them usually.
This is one of those VERY difficult topics. I've had Corbins, Mustangs and various HD seats. To be honest, I can't really remember which I've liked the best because I've had different seats on different bikes, (Goldwings 2, Softails 4 and my good ol 78 LTD 1000) Iride an 07 SG now and like you am looking for a solo. My old mustang seat was VERY good, bought it back in like 93 or so for my Softail Custom and still have the red mustang sticker on the side of my rollaway tool chest. I am thinking of going withthat again or going to Rich's here in Seattle. From what I hear, that guy can build one hell of a seat. At the Oyster Run last year I stopped by his booth and looked over hisphotos albums and seats. Gotta sayI liked what he has to offer and have NEVER heard ONE negative comment about him/his procducts. ALL the HD dealerships here will recommend him if you ask for a custom seat builder. PM or e mail me if you want his number and I'll get it for you. No sh*t, this guy builds a lot of seats.Maybe he can hook ya up, maybe not, but it don't hurt to talk and then make YOUR decision.
Mustang Solo.. $229.99 and free shipping.. "Ronnie" at Lewis Custom Cycles..877 633 3395
Just got back in town from an 860 mile run on the stock seat.
Don't know what I would have done without the Mustang backrest I installed before I left.! The stock seat (08 Street Glide) was good for about 1/2 a day then iron but problems.. On my next trip I will have a new Mustang..!!
I would suggest the Corbin Classic Solo with the backrest. Some solos don't have the capabilities of a riders backrest and they are nice if you do any long distance riding. I had a Hollywood Solo on one of my RK's, great bar-hopper and but wouldn't want it for the long haul. I had the Classic Solo on my last 2 bikes and will be getting another for my 08 Ultra Classic when I go to Daytona the end of this month. If you go to Bikeweek Corbin gives you 10% off on their seats. When you start to compare prices you have to look at what the seat is made of, Corbins use real leather in all the seating areas which is a good material for long distance riding also where some of these cheaper seats (Mustang) are made of vinyl. You get what you pay for !!!
Thanks for all the input guys. I think I will be going with a C&C done up without the stitching. I'll keep ya posted and post some pics when I get it.
