A quick question for those here in the know: what kind of HP/torque numbers are considered too much for the HD spoked wheels. I'm looking at the HQ 113" (HQB-113-ST)build for my "07 RKCbut want to be sure I won't be rampingup past what the wheel can handle. Thanks for your help and input.
In my experiencea basically stock or mildlyengine puts out too much power. My spokes loosened quickly at 31k miles. I tightened them and trued the wheel. At 62k miles, right before a trip, I put the bike on a lift and checked them. All were tight. Less than too miles later, they loosened quickly. I ended up with a ruined hub. My indy buddy said he sees alot of loose spokes on late model bikes andblames it on two things:
1.) Cheap spokes.
2.) The fact that the TC puts out the most power of any HD Big Twin to date.
At any rate, I said enough and bolted on a 1200C rear wheel.
I had a 110hp/115tq build on my Heritage and never had a problem.
I generally rode it fairly easy tho.
However, have heard quite a few stories like xxxflhrci's.
