I will probably ride the Vol more once the weather changes...rainy as hell right now. I bought the Vol new and have loved every minute of that bike. I just wanted something that was better suited for two up long hauls. I hate to say it, but after about 300 miles of two up...I'm ready for a break. My RK cruises at 100 like my Vol cruised at 60. LOL

I have Samson Rolled THunder slip-ons on my 2002 Road King. I'm not very happy with them as they are not producing the the sound I am looking for. After reading several threads related to exhaust, I've narrorwed my choices to the Wild Pigs or the Thunderheader slip ons. Do the wild pigs put out as much noise (with the baffle packing removed) as the Thunderheaders? Probably not a fair question as the Thunderheaders are load but it's more of a bark then a low loud rumble.

How easy is it to remove the baffles from the Wild Pigs? I would leave them in but will probably want to remove the packing.

I just replaced my Samson rolled thunders on my 04 FLHRCI with the Wild Pigs. I removed the packing and really like the sound. I got the 1/3/4 baffles but i am going to order the 2" to change out . I just never liker the sound out of the Samson's. Performance was good but the sounded like tin cans. For the money the wild Pigs are hard to beat. They look and sound as good as slip ons 3X the price.

That's for the info! I'm gonna go ahead and order them from the E-BAY link. Can't beat the price.

Are you thinking the baffle change is going to give you additional HP or noise? Did they come with the the 1 3/4 baffles standard?

I got a set of pigs off the e-bay link last month. The ones Chris is selling come with a 1 3/4 baffle. Before I installed them, I wrapped an extra layer of glass around the existing wrap (I used furnace filter material I got at an discount outlet). They install in no-time - piece of cake. At the same time, I switched my air cleaner with a Big Sucker and rejetted the carb (slow speed jet from #45 to #46, installed two #4 brass washers under the needle .050" and drilled out the idle plug and am currently sitting at 3 turns out from seated. Stock was 1 3/4 turns) The difference is incredible. It idles smoother, pulls harder, does not surge at crusing speed, does not backfire or pop (the plugs look perfect after a 50 mile check) and the sound is awesome. It'll set-off car alarms if you want (we have a hill in town right next the police station that just begs for wicking the throttle), if you play it easy, it sounds deep and managable and when decelerating - it'll produce a low burble with no pops of backfires. Definitely a good, workable and cost effective (as in cheap) set-up - CWO

I've tried about 10 sets of pigs on customer bikes. Havn't found a blemish on one yet. I've also played with about every set. ie. take the packing off, add more packing, remove the baffles, cut the baffles, etc. The pipes stock sound great. Good mellow tone while you are crusing, then come alive when you crack into it. If you really want to make them talk. Take the baffle out and remove all the packing. Then cut about an inch off of it and run a 1/4" or 5/16" bolt through them. As small as the bolt is, it gives you back the back pressure you loose from shortening the baffle. So far, I like that last method the best. Bear in mind, I like em loud. Cutting em down will get them to the sound level of a thunder header slip on, but still won't give you that distinct TH sound. The deepest sound I ever got from a set, was by taking the baffle out and removing the packing. Then I wrapped them in HVAC grade sheet metal and riveted it on. Those pipes had a sound all their own. I'm doing up a Road King for a customer now, and the sheet metal method is what we are going with.

Okay...you all have me sold. I just ordered my Wild Pig slip-ons for my 2003 RK from Florida (not off of eBay...I was worried of what might be wrong)...I'll be the talk of the town here in Seoul, Korea I'm sure...once the weather warms up that is.

Thanks for all of the input...helped with my decision. I'll let the forum know once I've installed them.
