07 flh..i know that the bat wing catches a lot of wind and turbulance' but passing those big rigs.. wow
! hold on !!.... didnt there used to be a sponser on here that sold a product to help eliminate this shake.kinda think that it mounted on the forks, tying the 2 together..any one try something like this? if ya did...did it help ?
If you're saying your fairing shakes or rattles, almost indpendently of the front forks/handle bars...you may have broken mounts inside the fairing. Might wanna check that.
I don't really feel anything like you're describing, even when passing a big rig.
I fitted a batwing to my bike to get rid of shimmying!
Also check simple things like tyre pressures. Does it it do it if you grip the bars, or when you let the bike ride ride 'loose'? In other words, are you tensing up before it starts shimmying?
You can feel the wind buffeting the batwing fairing when there are gusts. You are not crazy. What the others said regarding the mounting brackets is possible although each time mine broke they presented more of a vibration than a wobble.
As far as products on the market for wobble you can check alloyart.com for their stabilizers. they actually now make one for the front end.
For rear end wobble you can check ridstr8.com or trutrack.com.
I've had no trouble with such shimmying and I spend all my time on the freeways at 70 mph with big rigs, high winds, etc. The batwing is a blessing in my experience!
