Default Fan kit pro's and con's

I'm getting a 08 Ultra, and have the Fan kit on order to have installed when it comes in. I've done a little research on it, and I seem tofind some pro's and con's. The search engine for the forum is not working now, and I need more input to make up my mind, before the bike comes in. I am putting the oil cooler on. I'm setting the bike up for touring, and am concerned about getting stuck in traffic jams, that is why I'm thanking Fan kit. Is it a waste of money? I hear that they may not be that reliable, and brake down, but I'm getting the extended warranty, since I plan on traveling, and the Fan kit should be covered with the warranty.

If it is installed with the bike before delivery and registered with HD at the time they register the bike it will be covered by both the 2 years mfg warranty and the extended warranty for as long as the warranty is in force. I would say you have things well covered if you use both oil cooler and fan. I have the cooler and am pleased but have no direct personal experience with the fan. I have seen problems with them several years ago but not recently. Our dealership installs them on active force police bikes we set up and I have heard or seen no complaints from officers. No matter what still have the bike dyno, tuned with sert if you do any mods considering the type of riding you expect to do. That will go a long way toward cooling the bike since it comes from the factory so lean.

I have a Lenale Fan ($200.00) that is direct wired and a swith on the side so you turn it on when you want. That and my soon to be installed oil temp gage should do the trick in the hot summers down here.

(yes I will be getting a sert tune,)
