Yesterday, I decided to take the GF for a little ride and less than a mile from the house, the left turn signal decided to come on all by itself. I punched the button and it went off. A quarter mile down the road, it came on again. Once again, I punched the button and it went off. Now, it comes on and goes off at will. If I hit the RH turn signal, the flashers come on.
What's the deal? Has it lost it's freaking mind? Has the TSM module gone bad? This bike does not have the factory alarm....
Mine did it too. They replaced the bulb and said they could not duplicate the problem. I called BS but is doesnt seem to be happening anymore. I know it doesnt sound right but try new bulbs.
Sounds like water etc in the switch causing it to short and go on. A broken filament can also short out on the running lamp filament and cause the light to power up.
Well, I swapped bulbs side to side and the problem is still on the left side. The bike hasn't been wet in a while, so I don't think that is it. I did install the Harley run-brake-turn kit several months ago. Any other suggestions?
Try this it worked on my bike & later on a friends;
The TSM or TSSM is looking for an exact amount of draw from the bulbs. If it isn't there the TSM / TSSM is not happy. Take out all of the bulbs and clean contacts points on the bulbs (rough up the contact points a little by rubbing on your jeans) & sockets. Apply dialect grease & reinstall the bulbs.
Check to make sure the wires from the switches are not pinched under the clutch clamp. If that is OK then have the TSSM checked, I have seen many 06-07's that the resistance is bad on the T/S side.
Mine is starting to do it again. It is just the left side and sometimes goes on and off several times a minute. Has anyone found any more info on this??
Driving me crazy!
After pulling my trailer my turn signals started blinking real fast. I went on a Harley site and someone responded with the below information. It's worked for me. Don't know if it will work for you but it's worth a try.
Yes there is a way to reset the TSSM. This is used when you install and remove a sidecar but also works with trailers. I have used this to reset after installing led turn signals without using a load equalizer.
First you must apply the back brake and keep it pressed down through out this procedure or you will have to start over.
1. Apply rear brake, turn ignition to on position. Do not start bike.
2. Turn on four way flashers. Let flash four times.
3. Turn on left turn signal. Let flash four times.
4. Turn on right turn signal. Let flash four times.
5. Turn off ignition switch and release rear brake.
