I have a set of 1in. extensions from "SOOS" a forum member here. I was in the same boat as the rest , should I or not. I really have found very little difference with the scraping, after you put them on, youll wonder why you waited so long. Tim

I putboth kits on so mine are forward 2" and out 1" on my '04 Custom. Yep, first corner I took it scraped. I used to scrape the floorboards all the time and the floorboard brackets occaisionally. Now I just scrape the brackets.

It hasn't been a problem so far, the comfort factor is well worth it to me. Guess I got used to the scraping....

I have the extensions from Kury and they give about 3/4" more room. I have not found the reduced cornering clearance to be a problem, but if you think through the math it seems that there is some reduction at the most extreme lean angles. But that's OK, because the footboards are hinged and there isn't any danger of lifting the wheels off the ground.

After the running board hinges, the bracket picks the bike up off the ground, I did the math and it was quitethe feeling. For some reason the brackets are getting worn on my bike.

your stock shocks are 12's . if you are ok with the ride and just need to get your feet flat ,do the seat mod.

if you want to change shocks and get lower you may want to go $1000 ish adjustable air ride.

Here is my question....with these installed will the floorboards scrape more easily?
Yes, with the 12" stock FLHRS shocks. Been there, done that with my SG, which had the same suspension 'til I upgraded to 12½" Progressive 440 shocks. With the stock shocks the arrangement was unacceptable for my style of riding. I can't speak for bikes with normal 13" shocks mounted.

I am not a particularly aggressive rider, but do scrape a bit on a fairly regular basis. While I would like the additional comfort I think the extensions would give, I do not want to give up any cornering clearance.
You'll give up the clearance, but there's hope. Simply raise your floorboards up to the highest level. Unless you have very long legs I can't imagine this would be a problem. I am 5' 10" with a 30" inseam and after a 5-min. ride I didn't even notice the change, except the scaping stopped. It made an enormous difference, probably giving me more clearance than I had before I added the extensions. A math whiz could probably give us some numbers, which would be interesting. I ride with two friends who own BMW GS's and their riding style can be somewhat aggressive at times. With my present setup (12½" shocks, extenders, raised floorboards), I rarely scape my floorboards except on hard, slow turns, like pulling out of my driveway. Once at speed it is very uncommon for them to scape, and for me it is a very good arrangement. Having the floorboards out 3/4" doesn't sound like much, but it is a big improvement.

I scrape mine on occasion, but I really can't say the extension kit makes it any worse then stock.

To me, the extension are well worth it.

Yes indeed - good question and thanks all for thefeedback.

Mine are still stock,I don't scrape real often, and so far it's only been enough to make some noise and fold the board up a little. Therefore (thanks again y'all) I'm going to go for itbut I want to extend mine FWD some too - 34' in-seam.

Naturally I'm looking at the "soos setup"but posted a question the other day about that new Kury set that does both 1" OUT and1" FWD. Not on the street yet and no infoso far but still going to think some.I prefer a one-piece setup rather than stacking 2 gizmos up on top of each other - just more pieces to get loose.

I'm looking at doing the same. I myself don't like the idea of stacking parts either. I also have a 34" in-seam. If I read your post right, they aren't out on the streets yet?

Correct - not out yet. Here's a link to the thread where I asked:

They're more expensive than soos for surebut then machining is more complex plus they'rechromed. However,I would prefer black. Can't see paying for chrome on F/B support brackets myself.
