Here is my question....with these installed will the floorboards scrape more easily?
I am not a particularly aggressive rider, but do scrape a bit on a fairly regular basis. While I would like the additional comfort I think the extensions would give, I do not want to give up any cornering clearance.
(I know I should be able to figure this out, but never been much good at geometry)
Good topic.I'm in the same situation - occasionally scrape but not a major problem at all. It's obvious there will be some increase but how much? Maybe apoll:
I put mine on just recently and living in Michigan it will be a while before I get to test them out. I just figured I would pull them off if they cause too much scraping. I don't ride that aggresively so I should be okay. Besides, the extra space width will be great!
I have the extensions from Kury and they give about 3/4" more room. I have not found the reduced cornering clearance to be a problem, but if you think through the math it seems that there is some reduction at the most extreme lean angles. But that's OK, because the footboards are hinged and there isn't any danger of lifting the wheels off the ground.
I have Soos 1" extenders and love them,I did raise my floorboards up one notch that seemed to give me the same road clearance that I had with the stock location floorboards it was very easy to do and really after 5 min. I couldn't tell any difference! Take a look at how your floorboards are attached and you'll see the factory gave us an adjustment, I didn't know about it till I read it here! The Soos extenders make everything more comfy!Hope this helped some
