I just fixed this exact same issue on my RK by using a 1.5 inch piece of flat metal and forcing it in between the rubber bushing thing and the metal mount. It's been two weeks and the squeak is no where to be heard.
This is a very timely question. My 02 RKC just started doing the same thing on my last ride. It is a surprisingly loud sqeak. I'm glad its not just me.
My hanger does this from time to time on my 2-1 pipe. I just use a little wheel bearing grease, seems to last about a month or so, unless I'm in a lot of rain. I tried replacing, new bushing was squeaking within days...
I used some really potent two part silicone adhesive (dont ask where to buy I got it from work I work in appliance manf) I have actually bonded the braket into the rubber mount. I will keep ypu posted.
I like the washer or penny idea. I use to take a small piece of cloth and wedge it in firmly with a flat head screwdriver. Thats all it took. No squeak once you secure the bracket more firmly to the rubber.
