Click HERE to download the instructions for the standard backrest (non adjustable) and you can see what's what
Wow! Looks interesting. I'm considering the adjustable backrest. I imagine installation is similar.

FYI: I have been told that the adjustable back rest will not work if you have the heat shields.

Heat shields???? I'm sorry, I guess I installed my back rest on the back.... not the front. As with the others who mentioned it.... I wouldn't try installing without a good set of tools. Check out the instructions on line. There are several threads posted on this forum that will help. Best of luck brother.

When I did my initial search in this forum on "backrest" + other keywords, it said that it either had no hits or there were too many hits, so I shiould narrow down my search. Do you have any thread links you can toss my way?

So, do you have RJ's heat deflectors? Didn't know that they might be an issue.

Some of the worst Harley instructions I have ever read, however, once I finished it all made sense. The install is pretty straight forward, the instructions just don't get you there very well.

I'll be going to Iron Block - north of Syracuse, just of the Interstate.

Only the Kury and HD heat shields are an issue for only the adjustable riders backrest. This is due to the adjustment lever and the left side heat shield using the same existing hole in the frame to mount to. I suppose it could be worked around but there was no issue with my RJ's originals on my '07 Ultra.

Thanx much for that. I've got RJ's heat deflectors and am looking for an adjustable backrest. I'll give up RJ's deflectors when you pry them from my cold dead hands!

RJ's will work just fine...he has reworked them for the 08s and it is a mere matter of just squeezing the cable in...no significant issue at all...
