5'11' running a 14" on my Electra Glide Standard from www.flthcustomwindshields.net. Great people to deal with and great shields. The half moon design really protects and hands and makes the speakers sound better. Just my two cents.
I made a mistake its www.customflhtwindshields.net . Hope this helps. At 14" I have to look through the shield but I'm used to it. They have all different sizes and can even custom cut one if you send them a paper or cardboard template of what you want.
depends on your height. I'm 6' and now run a 7.5" shield. Had the HD 6" just a bit low. I ordered the 7.5 as a 9 from CeeBailys and had it cut down and curved. Very happy.
Read here for ideas on how to get close to your desired height. http://www.fastaire.com/Measurement.html
I went from too high down to where I needed to be , using the little piece of tape method.
At 5'8" and a stock seat , my best height was around 8-9"
Most guys can run a 9" , but it was right in the middle of my vision , so I went with a 8".
Then went to an 8" clearview , and it performs a bit better than a standard 8" with the lip at the top.
At least with the fastaire shields , you can try a bunch and not go broke trying different heights.
Mick
Great point Mick........... I bought a fast aire 10" and an 8" to see which one I like better. The 10" gives better wind protection for my face and the 8" gives better visibility because I am looking over it instead of half over and half through. I figure at that price, I can give them to a buddy wanting to try it or sell it for almost as much as I have in it.
After riding both, I ordered an 8" recurve from Clearview. I am hoping it gives me the visibility of the 8" with the protection of the 10". I am 5' 9" with a 32" inseam. I don't mind looking through a windshield, that's what I am used to from the past, but I hate looking half through and half over.
I took off my 4" because of cold weather and put a 8" and it was just right on my 04 EG.. I'm 6'0... Go with the lite smokebecause your looking over it not thru it..
Hey Fla Glide............... don't even know you but I am still just a bit jealous of you Florida residents........... Cold weather means put a 4" higher windshield on the bike and keep going? WOW, that is so cool.....
I am sincere when I say glad you guys are riding and enjoying while I am waiting for it to get above 40 so I can put some more miles on my new SG............
