i have an 07' sg and the fairng or 'batwing' started to vibrate alittle more than usual, upon removing the wing i noticed that the bracket that mounts the wing is broke in 3 places. any one with the same problem? please let me know thanx.
I have read many posts where this has happened. If you do a search I am sure you will find lots of them to read up on. From what I have read the solutions are 1. make it a warrany claim and have your dealer fix them 2.get some new HD brackets and put them on yourself 3. re-weld the brackets in the broken area adding extra weld where the breaks happened for extra strength.
I checked mine over the winter when i had thefairing off and mine are fine at 7000 miles. I think if I ever have the problem I will go with solution#3.A local machine shop with a pro welder should be able to hook you up forlittle $$$. Good luck.
I did,t have to try to remove mine since they were not broken. It looked fairly easy to get to when I had the fairing off, but I can't say for sure. I am sure you will get some other responses to your post and someone can answer that question.

I welded mine back together. One was broke, one wasn't. I welded both of them to make them stronger at the 90 degree bend at the top. That looks to be the most stressed area. Once that breaks it stresses the rest of the mounting points.
I didn't like the idea of having the dealer replace something that Ifigured would just break again, warranty or not.
If it's at the dealer;
1. I'm can't ride
2. There is always that chance that someone else won't take the same care of it that I would. I can deal with a scratch I puton itbetter than the one someone else put on it.
