Finally got the scoot out for a short putt this weekend, and to my surprise really didn't like the headlight modulator at all. I bought the Kisan unit with sensor which functions perfectly, but I felt like it was really bothering people and making my bike look silly. When I would come up behind someone I could see it flashing in the reflection on their car, and some folks would pull over to let me pass and then pull back in behind me, stuff like that. I spend a lot of time and money trying to make my scooter look good, unique and something that I am proud to ride and show off - the headlight modulator just looks too weird for me.
Might be posting a good deal on one here as soon as I pull it off.....
I think they're one of those personal decisions too. If you like them then you'll like them and if not, well, you just won't.
Personally, I'm of the mind that if they don't seethree lights alreadyon the front of a bike the size of a Harley then you're better off beinga defensive rider anyway. I've just nevertrusted any of them to see anything no matter how much it flashes.Maybe I'm wrong but...
I don't like them either. It's always a ricer comming at you and it kinda like they're saying "I'm a Dork,,Get out of the way". I also know from riding the front seat of a fire engine for many years that people do the strangest things whenflashing lights come up behind them.
OK go ahead look cool, for me I'll leave mine on (but can turn it off by going to the low beam) and hopefully be seen by that cell talking azzhole that wants to turn left in front of me, yes it's better to look cool than maybe safer espically when in a hospital bed. But at the same time each to his own.
I remember when motorcycles first started to have the headlights "always on" from the factory many years ago. I do not like the idea of cars with daytime running lights. It distracts from motorcyle visibility and the original idea of motorcycle headlights being on in the first place. I wish daytime running light on cars where outlawed.
I got a modulator for Christmas and will be installing it. When I was 16 a car pulled out in front of me. It's a bad situation. I do not wish to travel through a door or over/under someone who does not "see" me cause their brain is looking for a car.
Yeah I agree, they are kinda geeky, After I saw a glide T bone a cager cause "he didn't see him" I put one on. Use it mostly in city traffic when alone or leading. They DO work so I figured being geeky once in a while is ok. Deer also notice it
