I would look online, there are dealers that have firefighters in stock, they are also willing to deal on inventroy, a new order there is no advantage in dealing, they want to move what they have...
I lucked out. Went in to look at the new dealership one day, and was looking around. Salesman asked me if I was interested in one of the bikes. Naw, I says, I'm kinda kicking the idea of ordering one, but if I do I want to get a Peace Officer edition Ultra (knowing I would have to special order it, and was going to get out of there without buying on, cause who wants to wait 6 months for a motorcycle, right?) Did you want that in blue or black, says the salesman. Black, I says. Well we have on at the other store that just came in, and I can have it trailered here tomorrow. How's that, I asks. Cause some trooper in Eastern Ky ordered it just like I wanted it, and got tired of waiting for it and bought something else. So 5 minutes later while I'm upstairs signing papers for my new Ultra, I'm thinking WTF!!!!
Haven't been able to get the smile off my face since....
I ordered my Ultra Classic on 2-8-08 and the dealer said it could take a month to get a a build time back and I shouldn't expect it until late May or early June. This will be the longest 4 months ever. Any ideas as to what to do (other than banging my head against the wall)?
Two suggestions come to mind. First is get a copy of the Parts and Accessories catalog to look for the must have additions when you're in the 'Library'. Second, item is to read this blasted forum. We willhelp point out all the things you need to spend your money on to customize your scoot.
Congrats and look forward to pictures of your new family member.
Thats seems like a long time especially when these dealers have a overflow of bikes. All the dealers by my house have every color, and model along with $hit loads of used bikes. Especially the anniversary bikes if your into the color there making awesome deals on those right now.
