Default Ultra backrest -- modify?

"Search" tab isn't working yet, so here goes:

I've got a 2005 Ultra with a stock rider's backrest. Seems to be too straight up for me. Suggestions for angling it back? Do I need to heat up the vertical piece and bend it -- or is there another option?

Thanks in advance....

I heated the bars and bent them, worked perect for me. THEN I heard that some guys were having luck just putting a couple of washers under the front bracket mounting bolts (spacers) thus kicking it back a bit. Why didn't I think of that???

I pulled the cover off my adjustable back rest and trimmed the pad and rounded it out to fit my back, put the cover back on and stapled it and whaala

Hi tphillips
I also have the stock backrest on my 2005 Ultra. I just bent mine back a bit and then I took one of our nice pillows from our TV room sofa, opened it and took out the filling (some white plastic looking like cotton). I took parts of that filling and pushed it into the backrest until I was satisfied. That made a huge difference. I got exactly the right support I wanted to my lower back.
Don't forget to look innocent when the wife asks where the pillow has gone.

I took the mounting bracket off turned it arround backward and mounted it in the last hole. The backrest is farther back and has a slight angle now. Man it's the best I've sat on. The tounge isn't connected to anything but it tourqes down good and has not come loose in 30K miles so it' must be OK
