I like the K&N oil filters, easy to change with nut on them.

Back when I decided to switch Synthetics, Amsoil blew everybody out of the water.Have been using it now for years, no desire to ever look anywhere else.

In testing done by Amsoil, Amsoil comes out first (duh) and Mobil 1 V Twin second. You can read what you want into the fact that Redline wasn't in the test..

Use whatever oil you want but Amsoil didn't conduct this test:

Um, that review was done by Royal Purple overseas http://www.royalpurple.no/mobiltestrp.htm. I'm not sure what reviewing a 0-40 weight has to do with 20W50 motorcycle oils. I'm also not sure what one competitors comparison means (they can say anything they want, rig a test anyway they want) where tests like Amsoils show Mobil1 a close second to Amsoil and better than anything else, another test I saw showed that Mobil 1 held 84% of it's viscosity spread after 1500 miles with the other 4 oils in the test holding between 65 and 73%. You're telling me that everyone else in the planet believes both based on scientific and real world tests that Mobil 1 is a great oil, and we should believe this one test of an oil that's not a relevant viscosity, done by a relatively unknown competitor (Royal Purple) in Scandinavia?

I run Amsoil in all three holes, 75w-90 severe gear is the bomb, I had run Mobil1 before but after I switched to Amsoil I'll never go back unless I can't get the Amsoil, thinking of running it in my truck also.

I am a new Harley owner. Bought a 03 RK classic in December and have not ridden it yet. I have asked 3 different Harley dealers about oil. They all recommended regular vs synthetic. They all said synthetic thins out and results in a noisy engine. I know they are referring to Syn3. Any advise is appreciated.
"3 different dealers", that would be good enough for me. Reg. HD oil and HD tran. fluid gets my vote. Most other oilsprobably work fine but you can't go wrong with HD. They have put together good oil and filters for more years than I been around.

nine11c2,

Like a lot of others on here I'm trying to find information. I'm only sharing information without personal opinion without prejudice that I found searching the Internet. I have no factson which oil is best and doubt whether anyone has anything other than limited experience and opinion. Perhaps you could help point me toa Mobil's report or even a rebuttal of this flawed orrigged report.

Lighten up, this isn't personal. I think we're all trying to find the same thing, and I don't speak for everyone else on the planet.

Ride well,

Jim

This is the bike oil study done, NOT by AMSOIL but by an independant lab. AMSOIL purchased the oil for the test and paid the lab fees. Do you guys really think that in this age where everyone sues anyone for anything, that Mobil or any of the companieswouldn't have put a stop to the distribution of this if it were not true? No, if the tests were done poorly or favored one oil, this document would NEVER have seen the light of day. Let alone, be available for anyone to download via the internet.

But, use what you like, change as often or infrequently as makes you feel good.
