You have four posts on here. Two are negatives on the LCD dipstick. The other two are negatives about something else...Ever have anything positive to say?
I've had one for 3 years now. Works perfectly, and haven't had to change the batt yet. I check the temp/level every ride.
IMHO the Harley LCD dipstick is an overpriced piece of garbage. I say that after having 3 or 4 of them. One is lucky if he gets a year's worth of service. At least that's my experience with them.
Same here. Had 2 of the HD ones that only lasted a few months. Digital readout went out on both of them. Ordered the JES dipstick and no more problems.

+1.......save your money. It'll work fine for about 3-4 months, then it will quit. New or not, it's still made in Korea or Japan.....cheap (overpriced) P.O.S.
I have one on my 2000 Road King for the past 10 years without any problems until about a month ago. All it would read is 80 degrees. Took the thing apart and changed the button battery which didn't fix the problem. After closer inspection I found that it had a broken wire where the dip stick pivots in the housing. Took the thing part one more time and spliced and soldered in new wires and it works like a champ once more.
PH
I a going to run one when my motor ever gets done, I figure Ill just carry the old one in the bag in case it gets jacked. Another idea instead of an old dipstick is get an expandable rubber freeze plug the right size, that will be easier to store
I've had mine since September 2012. Works great. still on original battery. I check the oil temp/level after every ride or every Gas fill-up when traveling.

I spoke too soon. Mine quit working yesterday after 21 months. Only the first character of the temperature part of the display is working now. The oil level part it's still working.
The JES is a nice looking unit, but it doesn't tell you the oil level. Although it's not that tough to check, I still like just pushing a button to get both temp and level ....
