I agree with Papa Travis and all he said. My bars are a pushed forward a little. IMO, this was the best mod I've done.
Damn, I sure wish I could get my wife to agree with just one thing I have said... LOL My apes were absolutely one of the best things I have done to the bike. If I could go back and change just one thing about them, it would be the bars I chose. LAChoppers sells a bar called the ***** F'er. I wanted them, but let the wife talk me out of them. Damn women, LOL. Still, they do make them in 18", so, it would be an easy swap. If I can sell these bars, I will get the ones I wanted... until then, my very limited amount of money will be going toward things that I want, but do not have...
Got 12.5 on my 06 RKC and love them. The best way to find out what's best for you is what

\\;+1 Papa Travis, I feel the same way bout my apes.
You absolutely, positively, MUST sit on a bike with your setup (bars you think you want, same seat) before you blow a wad on bars and cables. \\; My heighth (6'3") and seat (sundowner) allows for 16" apes (Wild 1). \\; But I couldn't see them working if I was shorter (of course shorter don't mean your torso length is any different). \\; If you're hands are too high they could get numb and a ticket from your freindly neighborhood fee collector with the pretty blue lights (depending on the laws in your state): http://university.apehangers.org/hbarlaw.php \\;[8D]
