Coming home from work just a mile from the house going about 65 on I-27 and all of sudden I feel like I'm all over the road. Release the throttle and slowly coast off the next exit to the nearest parking lot the whole time feeling like somethings is totally wrong. I kept thinking one of my tires must have went flat but it just didn't feel like a flat.
Came to a stop in the parking lot and start to get off to check the tires when I realize the tour pack lid is open and sticking straight up. It must of been acting like a sail. I kind of laugh and shut it while inspecting it for damage. I guess I forgot to latch it and the cross wind coming home opened it up.
Got back on the road and all is good.
Remember folks to latch your tour pack. I forgot to latch it before but this was a first. Scared the crap out of me.
Had the very same thing happen to me last week. Bike was all over the road. I didn't forget to latch the TP. Somehow, it managed to wiggle a little gap and the wind did the rest. The wind was quite stong that day around 30 mph. Simple solution - lock the tour pack before riding and it will not open........
The last thing I do before I put it into gear is check the tourpack and the kick stand. And now I check to make sure I don't have the front wheel locked. Don't ask why.

That may be the case here as well. Usually if I forget to latch it I don't make it a block before I hear it rattling. The wind was a strong cross wind coming across the right side of the Ultra. It may have worked it open I just don't know but I think I will be locking it from now on.
It's probably something we should add toour pre ride inspection that you normally wouldn't think of. I keep my helmet, gloves, glasses, etc. in the tour-pak and it's usually the last thing I open before riding.I could see some distraction preventing me from latching it and doing the same thing. Thanks for the tip.
