I know there are a lot of die hard, hard fairing fans out there. But anyone here prefer to go naked, or with just a plexi glass windshield? I just put a hard fairing on today and don't know if I'm really feeling it. Not sure what it is. Bike feels obviously heavier, but not too bad. Just kinda miss the simple road king feel. Thankfully it's detachable, but just looking for anyone elses thoughts.
i rode a rkcfor 3 years . live in wisconsin.after many really cold and wet rides i traded up to an ultra just for the fairing and lowers took some getting used to but now i WONT go back.20 years ago u wouldnt have caught me dead with a windsheild
.
Ihave a street glide and love it. The wife has a RKC with the removable wind shield and she loves it. I will ride hers on occasion but for me... I like the full fairing.
I have had an Ultra in the past and it was a great bike but I just do not want a fairing again. I likea windshield but don't need a fairing. I will admit though that the Street Glide is one sharp looking bike. I just bought an 07 RK Custom and so far I really like it. I also have a FXSTC with a compact windshield, sometimes on, sometimes off.
I got a used dragon fly concepts fairing, but I think it's over a year old, so it's the smaller speaker configuration. I'm used to high end sound isolating headphones, and I'm thinking that I just wont get that with speakers, pipes, and wind coming at me at 70 mph.. So I think I may just go back to my dangerous headphone setup..
I bought the Quadzilla last year and I love it. I don't see me taking it off much at all. I didn't notice that much of a weight difference having it on like you say.... anyway, you gotta go with what you like and what you feel anyway.... not just by what we say is right.
How is the sound on the quadzilla? Is it clear and loud? Or distorted.. Can you pickup bass or is it mostly treble?
Sound is awesome. Even at highway speeds it's loud and clear enough. Not tinny at all if that's what you're asking by picking up bass. I can make plenty of noise. It's cool too, burn mp3's onto a cd and I can get over 100 songs on 1 disk. Don't have to worry about changing them out at every stop.
My biggest worry when I bought it was the price, would I like it.... I can say I would definitely buy it again.
