Elvis, you don't want any rubbing. Before you quit on the 150 Avon, try it with the new inch 18wheel. Tire will be lower profile.
Check the engine/frame/rear swingarm alignment and verify its within spec. If seriously out-of-line it will cause rubbing too.
Basically for me it came down to a pulley spacer. Luckily we have a decent harley parts store here in vegas that carried multiple pully spacers of varying sizes. I put one on that was about 1/8th inch. Worked perfectly. The bike took 2 days to do for a bunch of us folks who only had a small clue, a bunch of tools and the harley tech manual. Man does it look hot -- pics up shortly!
I just had a new set of wheels put on my 07 Roadking. A New 18"Fat Daddy 50 spoke wheel
in front with a Dunlop Elite 3- 130/70/18 tire. On the rear is a 16" RC Components chrome Smoothie with a Dunlop Elite 3 - 160/80/16
I had it done @ The Wheel Shop in Phoenix, AZ. I am not sure what if any spacers were used
but it looks and handlesgreat
i would think a 160 could be possible. I think the belt would clear with the spacer, but i think you may run into the tire rubbing on the fender. Not 100% sure though.
