>And they offer free coffee and continental breakfast,

Then I would'nt get to use my cool pocket rocket backpacking stove and sip coffee under the pines
without being bothered by others. Agreed campings not everyones cup of tea, but I'm a loner
nowadays don't even attend rallys anymore........ rather ride the High Lonesome.

Just replaced a 20 + year old Eureka Timberline 4 man with the new version.

Got the Outfitters version this time. It uses heavier material for the floor.

Used the original many times in the rain of Alaska without getting wet.

But remember, tents are not bear proof.

Maybe Im just too "back woods" but my usuall "camp" gear consist of a foam bedroll (Cost about $4.00, wt a few oz),a Poncho Liner (cost 26 years in Marine Corps can buy one for about $20.00 at surplus store) , and a Poncho for the wet weather to make a "Shelter" All this fits neatly into small backpack or in your bags. Heck most the time usually end up slepping on ground wrapped up with ponch liner. Love getting back to nature. This is good for temps as low as 40's much colder and you need to add some good "anti freeze" Jack or Jim works well in those cases. Hope this helps.

I have a 2 man Eureka tent ( 11 lbs), stuff type sleeping bag 4 lbs and a blowup air mattress (2lbs)...thats all I need.

I do carry it on some trips and have used it to do stealth camping in national forests.
But I have found campgrounds way to high $$$$
for the extra 10 bucks I can get a cheap motel room anymore

Personally I went to Sportmart and bought what they call a biker tent.
Designed for bicyclists was around $25.
Rolls to about 2.5 inches round by 24 inches long.
Fits between the front of my tourpak rack and rear passenger pad.
Fits two snugly, you can't dress in it.
It's just large enough to sleep in.
Here's a picture of similar tents:

Save some $$ on the tent and spend +$$$ on a high quality sleeping pad.

I have an old Coleman dome tent that sleeps 4 for just me and over 70" tall in center. I have used it for the past 20 years and it has worked great. Sleeping bag is 30+ years old. Now air matress is new but hell all packs into a nice size and strap on top of my bags. KOA that is the way to go since always nice place and yep a HOT shower!

Ditto on the Eureka Timberline 4 man. Sets up quick and stands up to heavy winds. Sleeping bag is rated to +30 and I use a jacket stuffed in the empty sleeping bag sack for a pillow. I also use a generic extra large motorcycle cover that cost about $35. The quality is very good and it doesn't say HD on it.

I have a Sierra Designs Tent, 4 1/2 pounds, sleeps 2 real comfortable, and 1 really awesome.....candle lantern......Northface Manatee sleeping bag(-25).......self inflating mattress......I have had these for years........
Cheap tents suck. I've been in mine when it's poured and all others were soaked, wet sleeping bags suck. Waterproof was what you want.
Never have carried a bike cover......
