Hope I'm posting in the right place, looking for recommendations. I'd like to buy an additional piece of luggage that fits nicely and fastens to the luggage rack of the tour pack. Looked at the HD bag, $200 but I read a bunch of bad reviews, fading, inoperable zippers, most complaints were on the thin plastic liner inside the bag itself cracking. Any recommendations, whether Harley of an off brand that anyone has used and are satisfied with? And MAYBE some pictures? Looking for some extra storage for those long trips...thanks in advance!
I just went through this for our 2800 mile trip that included Sturgis.
The Harley bag has both good and bad reviews, so I wouldnt rule it out completely.
The Nelson Rigg GWR 1200 bag is undergoing a re-design and should be available in October (it was my top choice), all of the current model of it are sold out...everywhere.
Saddleman has the TR3300DE bag, its a nice bag and I was going to get it...until I found the Castle bag on clearance for $94.00 shipped at Dennis Kirk.
We love this bag, its easy to overpack weight wise (we had it at 30lbs) so keep an eye on that. The rain cover is tethered, so no chance of losing it. It went on and off easy and stayed in place all thru the trip. (Theres a picture of it on our bike in my signature picture). Also, the strap spacing works out better than the Saddleman, as it goes on the outside of the last two rails rather than to the inside/middle
I have had this bag over 2 years - use it on my 2015 Limited. Works great.
The only drawback it has ........ and its not a huge deal .......... is how to secure the rain cover drawstring (when using the cover). I always find a way to tuck it between the cover and the bag itself, but wish it were somehow engineered into the product better.
have a nelson- riggs gwr1000 been going strong for over 15 years it is a bit faded but never used the rain cover as it only gets a little damp only in the heaviest rain, the kind i shoulda pulled over for.
