Harley recommends 91 octane based on their testing...better to use it and spend the extra buck per fill than take any chances. I use 93 octane here in Wisconsin and the highest I can find when I'm away from home.

Tried the cheap stuff, it ain't worth it![:'(] Now I only use 93 and only certain brands. BP, SHELL and Chevron seem to be the most consistant. I avoid off brands like the local yahoo oil company because of some questionable quality/metering/ownership issues.

[sm=noooo.gif] Spend the extra dollar per fill. It is recommended in the owners manual to use 91 or better. It amounts to less than 1 penny per mile. you didnt buy the cheapest bike why run the cheapest gas? I also try to run the Shell, and the bike seems to like it better too. do you drink plain white labeled beer??

I wonder if my FBO will let me sneak 5 gallons of 100 octane Low Lead off the flight line to put in the bike?

fastest way to ruin an engine is to let it "ping" because of cheap gas/ octane starvation

You bought a Harley, treat it right. Put the highest octane gas you can get in it and ride on brother!

Hi guy or gal, it is a proven fact that the higher octane rating the cooler an engine will run due to the more complete combustion. 91 or better the only way to go![IMG][/IMG]

Gas stations far and few between in west Texas and coming home from Sturgis in 2000 I learned that our pride and joys only like the best. Station only had regular - no choice- spit and spuddered for 40 miles to next station, drained what was left and filled her with 91 -- ran great the rest of the way. 91 ONLY!!!

Dont mean to spoil the party but I use regular all the time and have never heard a sputter or pop. Where does it say that regular will ruin the motor?[&:]

I dont know if regular will hurt it......just cant see paying big $ for a bike and not using the best fuel for it per the MOCO .....as others have posted its only 5 gallons every 200 or so miles..... not enough $ savings to take the chance IMHO.
