sheeit if i did it, you can do it...pains in the *** to watch for:

1. running wires in the bars (i brought mine to an indy shop and 30min/$30, done!)
2. hook the clutch cable up at the bars before you tighten up the clutch cover
3. may have to F with the exhaust to get to the clutch cover
4. may have to F with the tank to run the speedo cables

get new poly bushings!!!

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking at Carlini Gangsters 1.5"16". Any experience with them? http://www.carlinidesign.com/handleb...angster150.php

Did you do your own? I checked with the local HD shop and they estimated 8-9 hours labor. Is that accurate? How difficult is it to change the wires and cables? They estimated $800-$1000 plus the bars. 2005 Road King Custom
Rhino, I have a '05 rk custom, as well. I went with 18" apes. At the time, I was not sure I could do the install. I paid an indy $800, and that included the LAChopper 18", and all the cables, and wiring. Still, it is a lot of money. When I got the bike home, I need to adjust the bars, I didn't care for them being in line with the forks. So, Ibroke out the manual, and followed the steps. It was a piece of cake. Now, I didn't mess with the wiring, or anything else, but now that I knew I could adjust them , I was sureI could have done it myself, and saved some money. trust me, that will not happen again. I use to have a really good link to swaping out the bars on a RK, but I no longer have access to it...But, this is definately something I think you could do yourself...
