For those of you that have detachable tourpacks.....Where and how do you store it when it is off the bike? Seems like every time I take mine off, it manages to recieve a minor blemish from just laying around! Does anyone know of a wayor abracket that allows for the tour pack to be mounted on a wall, up out of the way?
IF the search function was working you could search "tourpack racks" and you would find a home made set-up that uses your existing studs in your garage and threaded rod to hang it on your wall...that's what I did...cost about $20
Thanks for the replies....I have no idea what you said cwilkes...all that bouncin around distracted my attention from reading your reply....I am sure it was informative!!! Sure miss that search feature!!!!
Get on ebaymotors and go into harley accessories. I got mine for around eighty bucks, but there's a couple of ones on there for less.
Mine holds all detachables and windshield, was also a neat rack to put your hard bags without scuffing them up when your cleaning bike, etc.
I think they had it on sale for the holidays, but $159.00 is cheap insurance for $800 tour pack with hardware. I do not have any pictures, but it was easy to mount to the studs in the garage.
Here ya go....I used 3/8 threaded rod......nuts/washers......and 3/8 (inside diameter) plastic tubing......nailed the 2x4's to the wall and drilled the holes thru the 2 by's....measure the distance between the mount slots on the detachable stuff and make it that wide....make sure you drill as far away from the wall (on the 2 by or use 2 together to space it from the wall)
Here ya go....I used 1/2 threaded rod......1/2 nuts........and 1/2 plastic tubing......nailed the 2x4's to the wall and drilled the holes thru the 2 by's....measure the distance between the mount slots on the de-tachable stuff and make it that wide....make sure you drill as far away from the wall (on the 2 by or use 2 together to space it from the wall)
That looks great CWILKS....I am going to try that......damn can u do something about avatar!!! Hard to concentrate on the context of your message!!!.....ON SECOND THOUGHT.. forget that...leave it alone!!! Thanks for everyones input!!
