I just put on new wheels and matching rotors. Never thought about the polished rotors and stock brake pads until after the fact. My question is to those who have used the Lyndall pads, are they all they're cracked up to be? and do they keep the polished surface of the rotor from getting scarred? Thinking about putting a set on before I go grabbing the front brake anytine soon.
The lyndall pads are great, less noise, less brake dust, better stopping power. As far as the polished rotors, I think any pad wil scar the contact area, I might be wrong though.
I put polished rotors on a few years back. I used "organic" pads that were supposed to be better. They did seem to not mar the surface for a while but last summer you could see the wear on the rotors.
All the research I've done points to the Lyndall's so over the winter I swapped out the front and back pads.
The back because I was sick of cleaning the brake dust and polishing the solid spun wheel.
Now I have to polish the rotors before I put them back on. A buddy keeps telling me he can do it or help me but that hasn't happened yet either.
I don't think I'd mind paying some one to do it at this point.
They aren't all that bad really so I may just slap them back on.
Just put on new front chrome and stainless floaters on the Road King. Also installed new Lindall pads. There is some wear mark after about 200 miles. Overall I am very pleased with the swap from stock.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I'm ordering the Lyndall pads and installing before she leaves the garage again. I didn't expect no wear on the rotors but at least try to keep it to a minimum..not to mention less cleaning involved the better.
Any brake pads willmake marks on a rotor. Where there is friction and force, you will get wear and grooves. Just enjoy the carriers shine and not worry about the friction ring
I think that they're alright. I don't think that they're the best though. I know "best" is relevent. I have "z"'s on mine now, and as soon as they are gone if not before, I will put on Ferodo's, as I hear that they are supposed to be better than the lyndals. They squeak.
Your rotors will show wear. I think it impossible for them not to.
