I have a 08 Ultra and I installed a Arlen Ness BS and a PCIII programed from Fuel Moto last night. I will install VH true duals and VH slipon mufflers tonight. The PCIII instructions said nothing about setting the 0 and 100% throttle positions. Do I need to do that? I askedKeith (I think that was his name) at Fuel Moto and he said just plug it in and ride, it didn't need anything else. I've read other threads that said you need to set the throttle position. What is needed? Thanks Jim
I just received mine and was told the same thing. We can email to find out, but I was told the same thing. Not sure why they would leave the throttler position uncalibrated, my guess is we don't need to do anything.
When I ordered he asked what head pipes what air cleaner and what mufflers and made the map from that info. I didn't look at it on the computer I just put it on the bike. Everyone here says Fuel Moto knows what and how to program the PCIII's so I will trust that. I'm in Ohio and wont be able to try it out until the weather gets better and the salt is gone from the roads
Same here in Chicago. Install the map as delivered. If you have any issues, I'm sure they will help resolve them. But try the map in it's deliverd configuration first before tweaking it.
They did not leave the throttle position unconfigured. You have to set the 0 TP and 100 TP so you will be in the correct range of the map they sent you. If you are in 6% when your throttle is actually at zero, then your map is running 6% higher and will be off. Setting the TP% is no big deal and you will notice a difference. It may be a MPG difference, a performance, but it needs to be done. Mine was out by 6%. My 100% was fine. The bike does not need to be running and will probably throw a code (2 of them) when you do the 100% so clear the codes after and don't be surprised.
I'm not sure of the 08s need the 0/100 throttle setting done. The new Electronic throttle may have changed things. I seem to remember seeign another thread recently about this. Call Jaomie and FM and ask. Or, read the directions.
The pre 08s all needed this and it is a simple matter of using the software that comes on the CD. There is a pull down in the menus that says Set throttle. It's real easy to do. There are also animated little demo on the Fuel Moto site to show youy how.
There were changes in the bike from 07 to 08 with that electronic throttle so things may be different. I'm just saying to check.
I have had Fuel Moto's setup on my 08 RKC for about a month now and haven't tweaked anything. It runs great and mileage under varying riding conditions is about 38-40 mpg. I don't think the throttle by wire bikes need the throttle setting done. I will check mine sometime, though, whenever I can borrow a laptop. I'm not too concerned about it since it runs so well and mileage is tolerable.
