Never did it. But I have ridden on the shoulder on 95 near Philly when traffic was stopped because of an accident.

I split lanes mostly at traffic lights so I get a priority launch. Yup, it can be dangerous. I certainly wouldn't do it if it I wasn't comfortable with it. I don't like riding in rain...to me, that's a lot more dangerous than splitting lanes. And I emphasize TO ME.

I don't do a lot of dangerous things for pleasure...don't skydive, base/bungee jump, scuba dive, or ride big surf on Oahu's north shore...I've had the opportunity to do all those things and more, but for me, motorcycle riding is my danger/pleasure fix. Hey, it's not just a ride, it's an adventure!

Split everyday. Actually the legal term is "sharing lanes" . I live about 25 miles from work and it is bumper to bumper about 3/4 of the way. If I didn't split I think my clutch hand would probably fall off from an hour ++ of squeezing =).

I really see all kinds of bikes splitting and very few bikes that don't do it. Now there are definitely different styles of splitting. I am very careful about it, only split at slow speeds and only go a little above traffic speed. I do see many bikes fly through traffic and not just zooom splats...I see full dressers weaving through fast moving traffic. I cringe every time and hope they make it ok.

If you don't want to share lanes then you should not be forced to do it but I hate riding in states that don't allow it. Its really just a daily occurrence for me.

I split every day rain or shine. It's the only way to get around here in heavy traffic.

I usually travel no more than 75mph faster than traffic

Seriously, is it just a fascination or do people really like bagging on us for being able to spit here in CA?

Why bother to ride if it isn't fun and it isn't safe. I save my riding for when it isn't rush hour. Too many cages on the mobile phone or text messaging during the rush.

makes me gladI live in Raleigh...... I roll out the wrong way from work, ride 10 miles farther, than necessary, and have great roads to myself, while the rest of the world is bumper to bumper on the interstate.... too many fools behind the wheel around here
