I did have a problem with my antenna causing it to have bad reception, I have a stiletto with a car kit, I somehow bent the antenna wire causing bad reception. You may want to check your antenna wire?
I have one of the older Sirius units SV1? I think, had it mounted in the right bag with velcro, had the antenna on the right side rear strut bar and it worked great. Decided I wanted to put my sirius radio in reach soI changed out my SV1 for a Sirius Relay I have, I made a mount out of Stainless and mountedit in the center of the inner fairing on the shelf right behind the windshield ,I moved the antenna to under the fairing on top of the radio, the reception is good but the sound is terrible, it fades in and out, if I plug it in direct to the aux. on the radio it works great. im thinking that my because the transimitter is further away from my bikes radio antenna ?
Also I know that my SV1 Sirius is an older unit with the higher power, heck I can turn on that unit and tune the radio in my garage and listen 25' away. The Sirius replay is one that was made after the FCC made them cut back the transmitter power.
i looked but can't find it...anyone know if the make a round (like for the car) antenna for the Stileto?.. right now i plug in the headphones/antenna and drape them around my backseat and use earbud to listen...the reception is ok but could be better
It sounds like you have a bad attenna or location. I have mine mounted under the fairing on top of the radio it needs metal around it like someone else posted. My reception is almost equal to the car. Take the attenna out of your truck and test this location. There could also be a defect in the dock your using for the bike.
You can see my antenna on top just over the Garmin Zumo. I have never once had a signal problem and it is well protected sitting just inside the windshield.
My deck is the Sirius ready Sony from BikeTronics so that may help as well. You might want to give Pat a call at Bike Tronics, he was a wealth of info for me and literally walked me through the deck, amp, speaker changeout even though I am an absolute newby. He might have some suggestions for ya. Great guy. Good luck. EW
I just used the Automotive Docking Station. I have the Magnetic Antenna inside the Fairing on top of the Stock Radio. It gets Great reception. I used the FM Direct Connect that puts the signal directly in the Radio's Antenna. It cuts off outside signals when the Sirius Radio is on. I don't get any interference, even when right next to a Terrestrial Radio Broadcasting Antenna.
