I know the Zumo 550 has been discussed in depth here, but I have not seen this asked before. I am considering buying a Zumo 550 for trips. My problem is my wife, she refuses to ride on an interstate for even 1 mile. She is terrified of semi-trucks while on the bike.
Now my question, does the Zumo have the capability to plan routes that avoid all interstates?
The Zumo has a feature called "avoidances" that lets you avoid certain types of roads and features (interstates, dirt roads, etc) that really works well. The Mapsource software that you use on the PC to develop routes has this same feature. Really works well.
Does anyone have a good screen shot of the zumo in action? I would like to see what the map looks like on the screen. The wife has GPS in her car but the screen is alot bigger and very detailed. Can you zoom in and out of the map by 1/4 mile increments?
The Zumo screen is every bit as detailed as it's automotive cousins. You won't see any difference unless you are talking about the high end wide screen units which pack more pixels.

Sorry to jump in on this post, but I gotta ask what you use to keep your inner fairing so clean and deep black like that?

[sm=exactly.gif]The Mapsource software isn't the nicest mapping software, but it works.
Jharanin, I think the inner fairing looks good because it was wash day and the lighting just hit it right. But I do use 3M Vinyl Cleaner on it from time to time.
DK, you're right about the MapSource software - it's in dire need of an update. Wouldn't it be great if Garmin developed a relationship with Google Maps or even Microsoft Streets & Trips? Those are much better maps, and it wouldn't seem difficult to program.
