I put a really cool 5 1/2 inch black one on my 07 RG. Darn did it look great. Go on rode bike 50 miles took darn thing off. It put everying right in my face at every speed make it a pain to ride.
Take a look at this place one of many out there http://www.rifle.com/stores/showdetl...ID=49920535512
Clearview is the best I've found. It looks a ton better then the HD shield (imo) cuz its pulled back and keeps the lines of the bike flowing. It works a lot better with its re curve and its built a lot better (much thicker then stock)
I've got 2 a tall one for long journeys and a custom 1 1/2" under stock for daily use.
Ok, so it's settled, clearview it is! Now I do have some questions before I plunk down 2 bills, are all of their shield considered "recurved"? And I cant decide between the large and x-large shield, I measured from where they recomended, and I dont see that big of a difference in the two sizes as far as visaibility is concerned, Istill look over the top of both shields. What are the current 6 footers running? Mhud, your comment did help, but as far as the dust is concerned, this whole damn state is nothing but a dust bowel anyway, and I am one of those guys that doesn't have enough time to do much washing anyway!
Take a look at the memphis shades shields. I have 2 different heights 9 inch and 12 inch and for about $79 they are hard to beat. Way better than stock.
I have bought MANY shields (3 different clearviews) and have ended up with the GT Medium in smoked. To me it is the perfect height. I also bought a "blemished" shield that they had in stock at $30.00 off of retail. When I got it I could not find a single thing wrong with it.
ok Heywood727, so I did the hand in front of body test, and although there is some air from the lower corners of the fairing reaching me, the main amount that is knocking me around is coming from over the shield! Havent ordered yet, torn between large and x-large
OK. Have read up on these and just ordered a GT Small Light Grey Tint blem from Clearview. I just lowered the bike tonight by 1" in the rear and I am 5'9". I took the measurments of 11.5" up from the HDB&S on the speedo/tach and this shield should be perfect for me. I am looking forward to a shield that does not vibrate at the top edge as much as the stocker. Right now I'm using a 8" chopped and will like to change it up a bit, and hear my tunes better. Plus this should help when we are two up.
Installed a Klockwerks 12" a couple weeks ago. I love the way it looks.
How does it perform compared to stock? All I can say is . . . more wind and more wind noise. I'm going to stick with it for a while and I'll write a review after I ride with it some more. Only have about 120 miles on it so far.
I have a 16" clearview with the vent & recurve and am very pleased with it but I think that the 14" would have been perfect so I could look over and not through it. The buffeting around the helmet with the stock & hd +3 windshields is gone.
