Default Air Filter WTF

I keep blowing out the botttom end of mySE Stage 1 air filters... I have gone through 2 in the past 400 miles..... [:@]

I now have the stock system on with a K&N no problems with 300 miles , I know I am running a little rich , which is ok as I have True Duals and only a stage 1 maping..

But is anybody having the same problem... or is it becasue ?[sm=feedback.gif]

First I've ever heard of that happening.

Do you have any pictures of what it looks like when you "blow the bottom out"?

Just can't imagine why it would happen.

I'd rather have a K&N as opposed to the SE anyway. Sounds like you're over tightening the cover maybe? What are you using for a cover?

Using the Stock cover... I hand tighten the screws, using blue loctite...

My "wrenching" Motorcycle experience is 20 years in motocross, I have never seen a filter get blown out like this in my life, and raced for Team Wheelsmith Maicio from 1978 - 1980...

Question: What's the K&N part number that will work with the SE backing plate , orwhat are you running?

Got one just like it, and the dealer installed it. My next one will be the K&N HD-0800

just installed the SE Stage 1 but swapped out the cleaner for the K&N HD-0800..

Got the cleaner for 90.00 and the K&N was 60.00... seems a bit high to me, should have gone through
Zanotti's..

Can't see what would make the filter do that unless it's getting wet..
your not oiling that filter are you?

That is definitely weird.......never seen anything like that.

Try the K&N filter, make sure the stand-offs are the right length, and don't over tighten.
