I will admitt I have only own/ed 3 HD's in my life.1st was a 66 sporster 2nd a 94 tour glide and now a 07 ultra. I have had many in between. There is nothing more satisfying than listening to the engine with the wind in my face. It gives me the true sense of freedom we have. I have 2 other bikes and enjoy them for different reasons but I ride the Ulta 85-90% of the time.
I find him at every stop on a trip standing by my bike just looking at it, touching this, or meddling with that.
maybe just maybe you might think about helping your pop out with a Harley. After all he helped you didn't he.
I knew I had it bad after spending over a hour looking at one bike and pointing out every custom part to my wife. Needless to say I love talking about them and looking at them.
I respectfully disagree with you.The bike stands on it's own (and always will). The nostalgia and charisma are subjective andusedformarketing by the MOCO and industry.
Negative feedback will always outweighpositive feedback. It's human nature.

Well believe it or not there are people out there that have had bad expriences with Harleys just like they do with Fords or Toyotas, And my personal opinion is if you took away the nostalgia or charisma that everyone mentions why they own a Harley, You might find it would be hard to give them away but no one would admit that on this site, Even when I read and read constant threads about poor Dealers and problems with the Harleys
I've seen people that can't afford decent clothes for their kids but they have to have that Chinese Harley ****
I sometimes wonder what these people "actually" ride.
I rode a lot as a youngster, but got away from it for many years....went through divorce in the early 90s and waited on a list at 2 different shops for a new Harley....after 18 months waiting and still not knowing when I would get one I cancelled and bought a new 96 Yamaha Royal Star....put a lot of money into that bike and thought I had the best of everything....until I got my 02 Dyna. I knew there was a difference the first time I thumbed the starter....that ear to ear grin automatically appears at exactly the same time the engine fires. My 08 Ultra does even more than the Dyna did....the wife calls my Ultra my mistress.....and she's right.
If it has wheels and an engine it's OK by me! I have my Ultra, a killer cafe Sportster, two Kawi dirt bikes, and an old Suzi 400 streeter. I'm hoping to add a two stroke Yammy street bike to the stable soon.
Then there's the 4 wheeled collection. I have three convertibles, a muscle car, and two pick em ups.
Oh yea, the wife. How could I forget about the little bride? She too is responsible for this fateful walk I've found myself partaking in. Goldwing after Goldwing with the aroma of our favorite blend of cappucino brewing in the cabin of this behemoth I always found myself riding solo. With each purchase the resounding echo of "Yes honey, I'll ride it with you" but the ride together never came to fruition. As hard as I would try to appeal to her to climb aboard, there was always some prior engagement she HAD to attend so the scheduled voyage would be one that I would get to endure alone. Ibecame all too familiarto this segregation of interest between her and I and purchased my Harley with her in tow, but taking her attempt to pacify my ears once again with a grain of salt.
The day of delivery came and Inoticed her toocaressing the leather of the seat, passing her finger over the polished bags, spellbound over the amount of shimmer the chrome gave off as if she had found the Hope Diamond and was looking for a place to stash it. I asked her if she'd like tojoin mein a ride around the town on our magical beast and she obliged. The ride was exhilirating with the bottom end grunt pulling loads of torque as the pipes echoed years of refined automated quality that would forever burn itself in the heart of my mate. The orgasmic episode left her wanting for nothing and begging for more.
i know when i can't ride/for weather i go to garage and just sit on it and crank it up for a few min...oh how good it feels....lol
to me harley is more than just a bike..it is part of American history just like the corvett.granted mine is an 06 with only 7100 miles on it but i ride it every chance i get
I think people put down Harley because they are jealous or envious. They wish they had bought a bike that moves the soul, literaly. I had a buddy tell me 2 years ago that when he bought his SG it was a "life altering experience". I thought at the time that he was a little strange, but at the time I owned a Honda. Well, I am here now and not on the Honda forum, so as you can see by my sig I now own a EGC. I am not sure if it altered my life, but it has definately improved it!! And the brotherhood of Harley owners is incredible.
