How bad do you have it?

I purchased my creation in Oct. of '06. November of that same year me and the Mrs. venture off to Arkansas for a weekend randevous. Kids, dogs, birds, fish and other responsibilities all taken care of for this stint so getting home was no rush. We have reservations in Hot Springs, complete with spa and masseuse on day 2 of our jaunt and after finding ourselves caught up in the harmonic throbbing of the V-Twin motor I glance at my timepiece and realize it's 5 o'clock PM and we arein Harrison, AR, which for those of you not familiar with Arkansas, it's more than a stones throw from Hot Springs.
I grab the reigns and point our thoroughbred due south on Hwy 165 with dusk quickly approaching and temperatures quickly falling.Being the navigator I am, and since getting lost seems to be part of the ride as us bikers like to think, I find myself in the boondocks at 8PM in 30Âş night air with no Hot Springs in sight. The testosterone in me prohibits me from even making eye contact with the Mrs. which in turn would be taken as a gesture that I was lost, so I steady the course.
It is now 9PM, 30Âş ambient, 15Âş windchill, and my nuts are chattering louder than the infamous 6th gear clatter. Hands are frozen in a griplike fashion, eyes can't even water because the tear ducts are frozen solid. Time for gas. Oh dear, she may ask me the dreaded question, that being "How much longer?" in to which I'd reply, "Only a few more miles, honey" knowing damn good and well she's done riding from hence forth......uggghhh..
The stallion drinks a cool 4.5 gallons of go juice and off we go into the overly chilled night air at a blistering 75+mph to our destination. All I could think of is a scalding hot shower and a comfy bed, screw the hot tub and masseuse! I'm beat!
We get to the hotel, she dismounts with grace. I peel my frozen nuts, hands, legs, face, and azz off the icicle of a seat and crawl to the hotel lobby. Upon entrance I make eye contact and speak for the first time in hours hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. "Well honey, how was the ride" I inquire. "Oh dear Lord, I thoroughly enjoyed that. I can't wait to wake up in the morning and see where you take me next! I love this bike. The heat from the motor kept me so toasty warm I was in heaven?".
WHAT![
] I froze my azz off being in front of the motor and she was perched up there in the Queen's throne as if she was in a sauna turning back the hands of time!Needless to say I played it like it was part of the plan!

In the 2.5 freezing cold months since I picked it up in Tennessee, 12 hours away from my house, I have put almost 600 miles on it. I have placed 3 orders with Chicago Harley for parts, 1 a month (with excuses from needing the extra safety to importance on visibility etc.) I have installed every part I have purchased myself. And while I am not big on keeping it SPOTLESSLY clean, I go out into the icy garage and stare at it, and I come into the living room and turn on the laptop and get on this board and type out stories and comments like a pro on a regular basis (if you don't think my writing and comments are top notch, let me have my moment here
and don't tell me.) I may have it fairly bad.
I don't have to defend my love of my Harley any more
or less then I do my Goldwing,Kawasaki or my Suzuki.
People that don't ride motorcycles don't understand
why people want to risk their lives riding motorcycles.
I've been loving and riding all brands of motorcycles
for over 40 years now. No brand is better then the
other, they all have their problems at one time or
another.
I too ride,eat,breath,sleep motorcycles 24/7 365 and
have done so my whole life. I ride 40,000 to 100,000
miles a year every year for over 40 years now and I
could not care less which brand of motorcycle I'm on,
as long as I'm riding a motorcycle, any motorcycle!

You ride Safe my friend, no matter what your riding!

...baggers rock!!!
Way back in 87 when I owned a 85 Low Glide (Year later named changed to Low Rider) I never really "got it". Went back to sportbikes and racing motocross. A new HD shop opened 2 min down the road and I walked in to check it out..........fell in love with the RK and now I "get it"! I think it must be the timeless look and smooth ride of the bagger!
This Harley thing? It's my dope I tell ya![>:]
